To help minimize small hive beetle damage, use with a trivet to raise patties above the frames and eliminate hiding space beneath the patty. The trivet also allows bees to feed more freely from both sides.
Shelf life is 2 years from the date of manufacture. Recommended storage temperature: 50–68°F.
This Hive Shim comes fully assembled and is designed to create an additional 1½-inch space within your hive when needed.
Shims are commonly used to add fondant, dry sugar, pollen patties, winter feed, or medications without disrupting the overall hive structure. For beekeepers preparing colonies for winter or providing supplemental feeding, a shim makes seasonal management easier and more flexible.

These Winter Patties are designed for emergency late-winter feeding when colonies need supplemental carbohydrates to prevent starvation. Each patty contains a touch of Honey-B-Healthy and provides steady nutrition without overstimulating brood production.
With a low protein level (2.5%), winter patties help sustain the colony without triggering early brood rearing. They are formulated to provide the carbohydrates bees need during critical cold-weather periods.

Recommendations
Feed the full 10-pound package at once (approximately equivalent to the honey in two deep frames).
Arrange patties directly on top of the frames and use a shim to accommodate thickness.
Leave the paper on when placing in the hive.
Store unused patties in the freezer to preserve freshness.
These patties are stable in cold temperatures but may soften or deform if exposed to heat. If melted together, they may still be used as a solid feed placed on the top bars.

Spring Build-Up
Global Patties are formulated for spring feeding and contain 15% real pollen for strong acceptance by bees. Designed to stimulate brood rearing, these patties help build colony strength in preparation for the main honey flow.
Recommendations
Feed in early spring, approximately 6 weeks prior to major honey flow, to stimulate brood production.
Place 1–2 patties directly on top of brood frames in contact with the bee cluster for maximum consumption.
Discontinue feeding once bees are bringing in adequate natural pollen.
Do not use for winter feeding.
Store frozen to preserve freshness.
